Fourth of July Cupcakes

Hello!

I needed a festive cupcake for a Fourth of July party. I layered these cupcakes red white and blue. But be extra careful when you do this not to get one color of batter in the place where another color of batter is placed. After you do this, bake the cupcakes as directions call for. I piped smooth and ruffled frosting on top, and added royal frosting flowers and white leaves on the side. Enjoy!

Eggplant

Hello!

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been very busy. Not too busy to garden, though. I am part of a community garden, and I am growing corn, onions, watermelon, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers. On my deck, we are growing eggplant in pots. If you are starting any of these plants from seeds, start eggplant and cherry tomatoes indoors. I am starting them in Styrofoam egg cartons. The tomatoes have not sprouted yet but the eggplants have. No, the tomato seeds are not duds. I planted them a week after I planted the eggplant seeds. Here's the picture:

Budgie seed project

Hello!

About three weeks ago, I planted my budgie's regular seed mix into my planter outside. So far, it's working great. In about three or two months, the seeds will be ready to harvest.

Here's what it looks like today:
I know, it looks like grass. In fact, it is.
Budgies eat millet (which really looks
like grass) in the wild.

Advantages:
  • Not processed
  • Fresh
  • Cheaper
  • Can be used for growing more seeds
  • Easy planting
  • Easily grown with hydroponics

Disadvantages:
  • Needs sun(this could also be an advantage)

Now, the budgies don't eat the leaf part. They eat the seeds that grow at the top in long clusters. I'll post how this project as it progresses.
